The Indiana Fire and Police Benefit Motocross was inspired by The Fire and Police Motocross Nationals (FPMN), and Ohio Fire & Police Benefit Motocross. Ed Wilson, a Los Angeles County firefighter, conceived the FPMN. Ed formed the FPMN to bring firefighter and law enforcement officers together for a great sporting event and to have a good time. Ed and his crew decided that they could further help the community by turning the race into a charity event. After seeing an advertisement for the FPMN, Ray Martin, an Akron, OH Firefighter, contacted Ed about starting a race in Ohio. Ed offered his advice and support and things got rolling in Ohio.
After several trips to compete in Ohio, Jason Bush, a Portage, IN Firefighter, decided it was time to start another charity race. May 2006 will be the first annual Indiana Fire & Police MX race. Hosted by Dirt MX Race Park in Kingsbury, IN.
In seven years, the Ohio FPMX has raised over $42,500.00 through entry fees, raffles and donations. The proceeds have been shared between the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Burn Unit of Children's Hospital Medical Center Of Akron, Ohio. We plan to keep the tradition and offer donations to the March of Dimes and The Hoosier Burn Camp.
The Fire & Police Benefit Motocross is a family oriented event. Spouses and children of INFPMX members are more than welcome to come and join in the racing. We offer race classes for all of the kids and also a women's class. Camping available at the track.
The Fire and Police Motocross Nationals have held races since 1989. All of us with the Indiana Fire and Police Motocross hope to have the same success and longevity as our brothers in California and Ohio.
